3A-D1 Preview: Tocoi Creek Aiming for Back-to-Back in a District Dogfight!
By Alex Wisdom
Last Season Recap:
Tocoi Creek made history last year, four district champs, five finalists, and a 20-point edge over Fletcher to bring home the program’s first ever district title. The Toros are back, but now the question is can they do it again?
The Insight:
This year, it’s shaping up to be a two horse race between Tocoi Creek and Creekside. Both squads have great talent, but I’m giving the slight edge to Tocoi Creek in what should be one of the closer, more exciting district title battles of the season. Every single match is going to matter.
⭐️ Top Wrestlers to Watch
Oakleaf: Sebastian Bonachea, Connor Barnes
Creekside: Luke Mims, Luke Manghis, Killian Lonergan
Bartram Trail: Carmen DiBella, Mario DiBella
Tocoi Creek: John Antonucci, Vladislav Chechkovsky, Nikita Chechkovsky
Sandalwood: Marcus Bouie, Markyle Bouie
🥇 Dark Horse Wrestlers Who Could Shake Things Up
Tocoi Creek: Alec LaVoie, Landon Caviness, Braylon Lawrence
Creekside: James Druda, Santiago Carrion, Caleb Brux, Larry Mims
Bartram Trail: Gabriel Betancourt, Charlie Thompson, Malik Bousalham
Mandarin: Brendan Warren
Fletcher: Theodore Brase, Josiah Twigg
Sandalwood: Jacob Carrasquillo
Oakleaf: Evan Brown
Nease: Dane Hofman
🏆 My Pick : Tocoi Creek has the firepower to go back-to-back, but it won’t come easy. Wrestlebacks are going to be huge, and one upset could flip the scoreboard completely. I expect a finish where every point matters.
♟️ Team with Something to Prove:
Creekside. The Knights were chasing a three peat last season and came up short. This year, they’re hungry for revenge and if there’s one team that can snatch the crown back, it’s them. Don’t under estimate Bartram Trail either, they’ve got the tools to spoil the party.
