3A-D2 District Preview
3A-D2 Preview: Buchholz chasing a three peat! A three team showdown sets the stage for a tough district battle!
By Alex Wisdom
Last Season Recap:
Buchholz comes into the season as back to back district champs, looking to make it three straight. Last year they pulled it off with five champs, eight finalists, and just a 4.5 point edge over Flagler Palm Coast. The Bobcats know what it takes to win, but in a district this tough, can they handle the pressure and keep the streak alive?
The Insight:
Three teams stand out in 3A-D2: Buchholz, Flagler Palm Coast, and Lake Mary. All three bring back state level talent capable of making big statements this season as well as athletes that may be overlooked and can shake some things up. The defending champs, Buchholz, carry the biggest target on their backs, and while I see a clear favorite at the top, the fight for second and third could be just as entertaining to follow..
⭐️ Top Wrestlers to Watch
Flagler Palm Coast: Kevin McLean, Robert Twilley, Joseph Dailey, Ronden Ricks, Joseph Foalima, Doyvonne Leadon
Bucholz: Gabriel Brown, Derryl Godbolt
Lake Mary: Gavin Isaacs, Grady Isaacs
Deland: Gerald Logan
🥇 Dark Horse Wrestlers Who Could Shake Things Up
Flagler Palm Coast: Michael Fries, Aidan Korth
Bucholz: Cody Rich, Sullivan Harkins, Prince Fortuna, Stefan Behrmann, Dylan Leamon, Braedon McGuigan,
Lake Mary: Achilles Rodriguez, Nathan Walck, Caden Laravuso, Jeremiah Pagan, Khalil Baker
Deland: Kaiden Olavarria, Hunter Owens
Forest (Ocala): Skyler Hackl, Uriah Fackler
West Port: Mathew Pishotta
🏆 My Pick : Flagler Palm Coast is a team you simply can’t overlook. They’re my pick to end Buchholz’s streak and take the district crown. In fact, I believe their margin of victory this year will be even greater than last season’s slim gap between first and second.
♟️ Team with Something to Prove:
Lake Mary brings back the Isaac brothers along with several dark horse threats across their lineup, giving them plenty of firepower to make noise. Buchholz, on the other hand, is hungry to prove their dominance isn’t going anywhere as they chase a three peat. While I’m confident Flagler Palm Coast takes the crown, the battle for second and third between Lake Mary and Buchholz could be just as compelling as the fight at the top.
